MOUNTAINS OF CARRARA

We were definitely lost. We pretended we knew exactly where we were going until we stumbled on this quarry, the sign read Cava n.152'. This couldn't be the historic cave where Michelangelo extracted the marble for his sculptures (the original destination after having gotten some vague directions). It was completely deserted, and even though I know that in terms of being tourist friendly Italy doesn't climb to the top of the list, it just couldn't be! Being that it was August, the month in which all of Italy is on vacation indefinitely, we freely wandered in quickly confirming this was not the original cave we were looking for, actually, it was much better.
