ON THE ROAD PART XI: THE ALABAMA DRIVE THRU MUSEUM

Most of the places found on this trip we looked for on the day we ended going to them. We rarely had a clear idea of our route and things we should definitely see in each place, also because everyone's list of 'must sees' is quite different. For Alabama, mine included the Museum of Wonder. It said it housed oddities from around the world, but mostly from Alabama. This obviously sounded amazing to me, so it climbed to the top of my list. Not so much my friend's list, but either way, off we went on the search for this museum, which we had very poor directions to. After the usual wrong turns, we spotted a flimsy sign posted on a tree that said 'Art Gallery', and an arrow pointing to a long and empty road. The whole time, from when we took a turn into the driveway to when we left, it had a slight Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibe, which I guess enhanced the 'adventure'. We later saw another sign which read 'Drive-Thru Museum', and it was literally just that. Driving through someone's hobby/obsession, with absolutely no one there to explain the random installations. It was fucking great.
